This Month's Featured Book

In Do YOU Have What It Takes To Run a Business? author Leonard J. Pellman explains why a business school degree teaches you to fail in business and provides a blueprint for success as an entrepreneur.

Pellman begins by introducing and defining what a business is, plus the fundamentals of marketing and economics that every business manager and owner must understand. The book also provides an outline of a comprehensive business plan and explains how to create one. It then reviews the essential KSAs (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) that every business owner or manager must possess and walks the reader through a complete self-assessment of those KSAs.

The author concludes with some inspirational quotes from well-known leaders, managers, and life coaches, together with a suggested reading list for additional personal development.

No other business book succinctly puts as much pragmatic instruction and information at the reader's fingertips as Do YOU Have What It Takes to Run a Business?

The Golf-Book of East Lothian is a detailed history of the transformation of golf from an obscure game exclusive to the male aristocrats and gentry of Scotland and England to a pastime enjoyed by millions of men and women around the world today, and created professional golf as we now know it.

The original 1898 edition was written by the Rev. John Kerr, a Scottish Presbyterian minister who found himself at the centre of this revolutionary change and was himself one of the major influences in the transformation of the sport.

Lionheart Publications is pround to be the publisher of this reprint edition, edited by the Rev. Kerr's great-grandson, Leonard J. Pellman.  In this new edition, Mr. Pellman has added an in-depth biography of the Rev. Kerr, his own contributions to the popularisation of golf, and his tragic fall from grace as a result of his love of golf and dedication to chronicling its development in The Golf-Book of East Lothian.  He also provides background information on several of the most influential people involved in reshaping and promulgating the game of golf, including Lord Arthur Balfour, who later became Prime Minister of the UK.

The Golf-Book of East Lothian is not only a treasured history of the game of golf, but an important historical work deserving of preservation and greater appreciation in our modern times for the lessons it provides about golf in particular and life in general.

Leonard J. Pellman, widely known in the world of Japanese martial arts as the co-author of Flashing Steel: Mastering Eishin-Ryu Swordsmanship and Karate As The Art of Killing, is currently writing Suigetsu o Shire and The Art of Jōjutsu for publication in early 2024 by Lionheart Publications.

Jōjutsu is the 400-year-old art of using a slender four foot long stick called a in self-defence against an attacker armed with a samurai sword.  Many consider jōjutsu to be the pinnacle of martial arts training, because it relies upon the skill, courage, tactics, and willpower of the defender to overcome and subdue a highly trained opponent wielding a vastly superio weapon.

"Suigetsu o Shire" (meaning "understand the moon's reflection in water") is a phrase taken from a vision the creator of jōjutsu had while fasting and meditating after being defeated in a duel for the first time in his life. It is the key to the strategy of the , but it is also a valuable strategy for overcoming superior forces in everyday life and careers.  In this book, Pellman Shihan explains the history, philosophy, and all 61 techniques of jōjutsu plus the 12 standard techniques created for the All-Japan Kendo Federation.  In addition, the book describes the 12 techniques of Shindō-Ryū kenjutsu (samurai swordsmanship).

It will be the first complete and comprehensive guide to the art of jōjutsu written in the English language, so we expect it to be a landmark publication equivalent to Flashing Steel.
